Scarlett: The Name Of One Of My Favorite Colors

Scarlett, from Ali & Alli. She’s almost as pretty as me!

A new release in the Alli&Ali Designs Mainstore. Scarlett comes in 10 separate color packs at $L250 each, and the whole set for $L1200.

BUT! (And there’s always a but!) Group members get half price refunded when wearing the title and buying the hairstyle from our “Action Wall,” so you can actually get the entire set for $L600! This is something new and will continue for the future: we offer this for all our new releases in the week they come out.

You can find the included green single color as a gift this week in the Mainstore, below the hairstyles voting board.

It’s also available as a gift in Black Pink at the front desk, or in Fire for $L50, under the Special Offers board, located to the right of the front desk.

I really, really like Scarlett!

Any way you look at it, it’s a winner!

Thick, luxuriant curls always turn me on!

So you see? You really have no excuse for not adding Scarlett to your inventory! And if you do manage to come up with an excuse, I’ll just quote what Rhett said to Scarlett at the end of Gone With The Wind: “Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn!”

Scarlett, now from Alli&Ali Designs Mainstore.

Have We Got Some Specials For You!

A lot’s been happening this week at Alli&Ali Designs Mainstore. 3—count ‘em—3 new styles and an incredible offer.

Ruby Red

First up is the A&A Month Of Love Hairstyling Box for 2019. 10 styles for the amazingly low price of only $L10. That’s right, A box containing 10 styles for $L10 for the entire set. Try thinking “$L1 a style.”

But there’s a catch: it’s only available until 28th February, and only on the SL marketplace. You’d better hurry over right now if you want them because they’ll disappear on the 28th!

Laurie

Next up is Laurie, another of Alli&Ali Designs Mainstore’s new, low-display-weight designs.

The entire set sells for $L1200, and if you’ve been paying attention, that’s down from the usual cost of $L1500. Individual color sets are still $250 each, but there’s also a neat trick: if you make your purchase from the Action Wall in the Mainstore entrance hall, you’ll get %50 off your purchase price refunded. So the entire set will only cost you $600! Just make sure you’re wearing your A&A group tag before your purchase to receive the discount.

You can also buy Laurie in Fire for $L50 at the Specials wall, or grab a copy in Light Brown for free in the voting area.

Giana

And that brings up Giana.

What can I say about this style except to tell you I love it?

Once again, Group members wearing the Alli&Ali group title while buying, receive 50% back when buying from the Action Wall in the Mainstore entrance hall. The price before the discount is $L1200 for the full set, and individual subsets can  be purchased for
$L250 each. Once again, make sure you’re wearing your A&A group tag before your purchase to receive the discount.

You can also get a single color, Black Blue Cyan, free at the front desk.

Alli&Ali Designs Mainstore, one-stop shopping for all your hair needs.

And don’t forget Alli&Ali Designs Classic, where you can find a closet inventory organizer, builder resources, gimp tutorials, hair, scripts, and so much more!

Switching From a Classic to a Mesh Body

More and more folks in Second Life are switching their Classic avatar bodies for newer mesh bodies. It’s an excellent choice, as the new bodies look and move more realistically than the older ones. But the new ones come with drawbacks of their own., probably the greatest of which is their expense.

One of the most popular mesh kits is Lara, from Maitreya. The body kit will run you $L2750, which as of this writing is about $12.50 in US dollars. That’s before buying any clothes, but fortunately, Maitreya has a free dress kit and three pairs of shoes to go with it. In addition, the body itself comes with matching bra and panties.

When I (Aisling) switched from a classic avatar to Lara, I budgeted $L5,000 for the body, a new wardrobe, and a few other incidentals, such as a new Animation Override (AO).

But not everyone is in a position to spend that much money, much less all at once. So I’m going to show you a way you can save on expenses ahead of making the change.

Enter The Free Dove

And I mean to enter it both literally and figuratively. THE FREE DOVE FASHION  (www.thefreedove.com) is SL’s oldest (13+ years) and most popular site for free, high-quality fashions for men and women. It features clothes and accessories for both classic and mesh avatars, and their inventory is constantly changing.

How do they do this? Palomma Casanova, the owner and operator of The Free Dove, invites SL’s top designers to provide free samples of their works. This accomplishes two things: it allows you, the customer, to acquire a decent wardrobe while giving the designers free publicity for their goods and services. And to be fair, when I’m in the market for new clothes, I always check out the vendors who have kindly provided me with the free goods before I check anywhere else.

Meet Heather Wilkenson

Heather is a new account I created to show you what all this means. Right now she’s wearing a classic-style body, which I plan to upgrade to a mesh (Lara) sometime in the next few weeks. She’s wearing an outfit from The Free Dove; specifically, (SP) Winter Day -caramel-. This is an outfit specifically designed for classic bodies. But she’s also acquired several mesh outfits in anticipation of the upgrade since they might not be available by then.

More importantly, a few of the outfits she likes are for both classic and mesh avatars. So she can wear them now, and still be able to wear them after she switches to Lara (or any other mesh avatar).

Summing Up

Like everything else in SL, going with a mesh avatar or staying with a classic shape is a purely personal choice, which depends on many factors—primarily your budget. But I hope I’ve given you some options to explore while you decide.

A Touchy Subject

Or, Making the Carpet Match the Drapes

This week’s offering from Alli&Ali Designs Mainstore is twofold:

Camina is a somewhat straggly-looking style, similar to what your hair might look like after a long day at the office. Or, just as equally, a long night partying. Either way, I like it.

So of course I’m modeling it in my favorite color!

As with all of the new designs from Alli&Ali Designs Mainstore, Camina has a very low display weight, the importance of which I’ve already spoken here.

It also comes in four different styles,  depending on your preferences.

The complete set sells for $L1500, but this week’s sale (at the front of the store) features Camina in caramel for $L50.

You can also buy the Ombre set for $L250:

Matching the Carpet to the Drapes

Okay, ladies. This is a bit more personal…and trickier.

I used the word “trickier” advisedly: I couldn’t find this item in the Mainstore. So here’ what you have to do: go to Alli&Ali Designs Classic. Once there, find the map/kiosk and click on the Pubic Hairs selection. I’ve sent a message to Alice Klinger (owner of A&A) to see where, if at all, it can be found in the Mainstore.

The complete set, with all of the colors you see above, is $L1500. Individual color boxes are $L250 each.

And no, I’m not going to post any pictures of me modeling this set! See me in-world if you’re that interested (or that perverted!).

Remember, the Alli&Ali Designs Mainstore should always be your first stop when shopping for quality hair and accessories.

It’s 93° Outside, and I’m in no Mood for Writing

Still, I made a commitment, and I’m gonna stick to it.

This week’s style from Alli&Ali Designs Mainstore is Thisbe, a lovely do with flowers embedded in it. Naturally, this being from A&A, there’s an option to either hide or display the flowers.

Thisbe sells for $L1500 for the complete collection; however, you can buy the Mixed Blonde set for the special sale price of only $L99.

And to make it even better, there’s a freebie (Pink Blonde) at the front desk for you! Just wear your Alli&Ali group tag and it’s yours!

Each design comes with four different styles, which can be selected via the enclosed HUD.

And this is me, modelling one of the reds (of course!):

Thisbe: waiting for you at the Alli&Ali Designs Mainstore!
