And Now for Something Completely Different…

Let’s talk about…heads. I’ve written previously about mesh bodies, and now it’s time for something even more interesting: mesh heads. Specifically, Mayreal brand mesh heads.

The thing about my own mesh body—Maitreya Lara—is that it uses the original head that came with my classic avatar shape. I believe most mesh bodies work this way. But I wanted my head and face to have the adaptability and flexibility as my body. I asked around, and based on the advice I got, I decided to go with the Mayreal Nadia mesh head. My main reason? It looked like it was everything I wanted. Plus it was about $L3,000 less than the next brand.

Mayreal Nadia Mesh Head

Maximum Realism on Your Face

A good movie or book depends on its ability to suspend your sense of disbelief. Second Life is no different: the more realistic your avatar appears, the easier t is to immerse yourself in that world. Here are just a few of the facial animations available with the Nadia head:

Using the Head

Unpacking the box the head came in was a simple matter of wearing it: doing so created a new folder in my inventory with all of the components of the head. All 60+ elements if you count the instruction cards. But don’t worry—you won’t use everything all at once. Once you wear the head, everything else is related to your appearance, allowing you to customize your appearance right down to the the length of your eyelashes and the size of the beauty mark above your lip! Oh, right: you can decide on the lipstick color and glossiness, too.

Anyway, that’s just an introduction to mesh heads. Next, I’ll show you my new appearance and explain just how I got there.

Bye for now!

Charis: Curls and a Braid

The newest offering from Alli&Ali Designs Mainstore is Charis.

I absolutely love this one because it combines two of my favorite things in hairstyles: curls and a braid.

Charis All Colors

And check out the low display weight! This has been a feature of all Alli&Ali’s new styles for months and is a big improvement over most makes and brands of hair, some of which can add almost 100 points to your display weights. This, in turn, slows down your rezzing and is generally a pain in the you-know-what.

The A&A Charis Hair All Colors is boxed, and it’s available for $L1200. Its permissions are, as always, COPY, MOD, NO TRANS.

And as they love to say on television adverts, “BUT WAIT! THERE’S MORE!”

Each of the 8 color boxes sells for $L250 and comes with the same permissions.

And yes, there’s even more:

Wear your Alli&Ali group tag before you make your purchases and you’ll get half the purchase price refunded to you. This makes what I consider the best hair in SL an even better deal—and stronger temptation.

And though Eve’s downfall was to give in to temptation, no less an expert than Oscar Wilde wrote, “I avoid temptation by yielding to it.” Besides, isn’t it just like a man to blame all of his problems on a woman?

Come to think of it, aren’t all of a woman’s problems caused by men? MENopause, MENstruation, MENtal illness?

Charis is available in Platinum Raspberry as a free gift at the front desk, as a Voting gift in Fire, or as a Special offer in Pearl for $L50.

Either way you look at it, Charis is a sure winner. Get it today at the Alli&Ali Designs Mainstore.

Olya, Reminiscent of the Roaring Twenties

Remember the days of the Page Boy bob? Good heavens! I’ve just dated myself! But never you mind! Olya is sure to bring out your inner flapper, and it’s available right now from Alli&Ali Designs Mainstore.

The Fatpack, containing all 256(!) colors, sells for $L1200. Each of the 10 color group packages goes for $L250. But don’t forget: if you’re wearing you A&A group title, and you make your purchase from the Action Wall at the front of the store, half of the purchase price will be refunded to you.

A single color, Sand Blond, is available as a gift at the front desk. Strawberry Creme is available on the Specials Wall for $L50.

Jackie, A Very Easy Style

A new release from the Alli&Ali Designs Mainstore. Jackie is a sweet, casual style that’s perfect for work or play. It’s one of those styles that you can just run a brush through and you’re good to go.

There’s only one color package available so far, and that’s the Variety package at $L250. It comes with 16 color varieties. Group members get half the purchase price refunded when wearing the group title and buying the hairstyle from the store’s “Action Wall”.

You can also find the Dark Copper color as a gift in front of the Voting Wall.

Scarlett: The Name Of One Of My Favorite Colors

Scarlett, from Ali & Alli. She’s almost as pretty as me!

A new release in the Alli&Ali Designs Mainstore. Scarlett comes in 10 separate color packs at $L250 each, and the whole set for $L1200.

BUT! (And there’s always a but!) Group members get half price refunded when wearing the title and buying the hairstyle from our “Action Wall,” so you can actually get the entire set for $L600! This is something new and will continue for the future: we offer this for all our new releases in the week they come out.

You can find the included green single color as a gift this week in the Mainstore, below the hairstyles voting board.

It’s also available as a gift in Black Pink at the front desk, or in Fire for $L50, under the Special Offers board, located to the right of the front desk.

I really, really like Scarlett!

Any way you look at it, it’s a winner!

Thick, luxuriant curls always turn me on!

So you see? You really have no excuse for not adding Scarlett to your inventory! And if you do manage to come up with an excuse, I’ll just quote what Rhett said to Scarlett at the end of Gone With The Wind: “Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn!”

Scarlett, now from Alli&Ali Designs Mainstore.

Want a Wild And Crazy Style?

Then get ready for Charis, ‘cause it’s gonna blow your socks off!

Charis Hair, All Color Set

Are you ready, hey, are you ready for this?
Are you hanging on the edge of your seat?
Out of the closet, the styles rip
To the sound of the beat

Okay, okay—so I’m not Queen. But I am the queen of this blog, and if I want to misquote darling Freddy, it’s my prerogative. So there.

Alli&Ali Designs Mainstore’s latest exclusive offering can only be found at the March Dazzle event. And it’s only available until March 25th.

The complete selection of all colors sells for $L1200, but you can grab a free copy of the Caribbean Edition at the same place.

Charis, Caribbean Edition

But here’s the best thing about it: you can color the base hair and the streaks separately! Here’s what I did:

Full Frontal

Right Profile

Left Profile

Of course, if you want both the hair and the streaks to match, you can do that, too.

But given that it’s only available until the 25th of March, and today is already the 16th, you’d best hurry on over to the Alli&Ali display at the Dazzle event!

Hey There! Katie Here!

Howdy! I hope you’ll bear with me as I get my feet under me. I’m brand-new to blogging, but writing is one of my strengths, so I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

All About Me

Or rather, all you need to know about me.

Second Life

I’m young and open-minded. I’m always open to new friends, new experiences, and new ideas. All I ask is that you be kind.

Wine me, dine me, sixty-nine me. Take me exploring with you. Open my mind to fresh experiences. I love to dance, the slower the better. And sometimes cuddling can be even more intimate than sex.

“God willing, may your tea be steeped in serenity, sweetened by sharing, and surrounded by the warmth of your love.”

Back To The Topic

I know Aisling has already written a lot about Life, the Universe, and Everything (as Douglas Adams put it), and I might touch on some of the same subjects myself. But since I’m a different person, my views are going to be different. Besides, you (the reader) might not have been with Aisling from the start, and thus have missed a lot of it.

Friendships in Second Life

I met someone new last night. Have you ever met someone and you knew right from the start that they were a kindred spirit? And to really understand what I mean when I say “kindred spirit,” I suggest that, if you haven’t already done so, you read the book “Anne of Green Gables.” And even if you have read it, you know it’s one of those books that never gets old.

Well, I met a kindred spirit. We are so much in tune with each other that it was almost like carrying on a conversation with myself. And we both know we’re going to be BFFs!

But if there’s one thing I’ve already learned—quite painfully, I might add—is that you need to guard your heart in SL.

Still, in this particular case and with this particular person, I’m reasonably certain we’ll neither of us hurt the other one. At least not deliberately.

Another problem I’ve experienced is the people in SL who seem to have forgotten—assuming they even realized in the first place—that every avatar, far from being a mere collection of pixels on a screen—represents a flesh-and-blood person behind that avatar. A lot of that can be attributed to the anonymity of the web in general and SL in particular:

People feel safe in mistreating or insulting others when they know that no one knows who they are. Hence,  no repercussions.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. Catch you later!
